Wyatt’s biography
In January 2006, working as a supervisor welding retail store-fixtures
during the day, Wyatt Ellison started creating furniture designs
and functional art after hours. Months of experimenting led to
the development of a line of home and garden pieces, which he
started selling in retail stores throughout the Bay Area. In late
2006, his company Elemental Art was launched, and has since been
striving for the next big promotion.
Elemental Art’s inspiration
We tend to think of straight bars and flat beams when we think
of steel, due to its structural applications in everyday life.
But steel comes from iron-ore, which is an ancient and critical
element in which our modern civilization has been built. To us,
this duality between its artistic potential and it’s common,
utilitarian function is an opportunity to explore forms that are
both lively and delicate, while at the same time incredibly strong
and permanent. Each project challenges us to find innovative approaches
to craftsmanship in order to further understand steel’s
natural beauty and versatility.
